The leader and founding chairman of the militant group Kalipunan ng
Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay), has left the Philippines amid ongoing
chaos after more than 300 people left the group due to alleged
corruption and inequality.

Flight data on Friday shows Gloria Arellano had left the country for
Singapore with a connecting flight to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Arellano, who has 3 professional children in Canada (a financial analyst and two engineers), stated before that her children wanted her to stop her group activities and just go and live with them in Canada.
The timing is obvious though as Arellano left the country while her group is facing serious problems due to alleged corruption by her and other top leaders.
Airport inspectors on Friday told the media that Arellano was carrying a $67,000 manager’s check, and cash of $6,500. Regardless of the amount, carrying a check is not prohibited by law, and any cash below $10,000 so the security had let her past.
It is unclear if Arellano will return to the Philippines in the future as her house helper in Mandaluyong, the only person who left, said she didn’t know and cannot provide any details. Her other son who is working as a bank manager in Nueva Ecija also refused to give a statement.
Coincidentally, Kadamay’s treasurer, Antonio Tupaz is also unreachable since Friday. Only Arellano and Tupaz have access to the group’s fund according to another leader and they have no idea if the fund is still intact.
Problems inside Kadamay aroused after more than 300 members bolted out from the group a couple of days ago.
